Woke Score Breakdown
โ Racial messaging
2Several minor characters (Adena, Gail, Jax, Braxton, and Sadie) are described as having darker skin, and the narrative touches on the kingdomโs discrimination against those without magical abilities. This suggests an awareness of broader issues of marginalization but it doesn't fully develop a message about systemic racism.
๐ Immigrant themes
1The banishment of Ordinaries resembles displacement, but this isn't presented as an immigration narrative or framed as a commentary on open borders or the immigrant experience. It's more about class-based segregation within a single kingdom.
๐ชถ Indigenous peoples
1The dispossession of the Ordinaries is framed primarily as a matter of power and privilege within the kingdom, not a parallel to the historical treatment of indigenous peoples. The narrative doesn't emphasize cultural survival or settler colonialism.
๐ณ๏ธโ๐ LGBT characters
1No LGBT characters, romance, or identity are present in the provided description.
โ๏ธ Feminist themes
2Paedyn is a capable character who steals and fights to survive, exhibiting agency and competence. While she is not explicitly critiquing patriarchy, her position as an Ordinary facing discrimination hints at challenges related to gender roles within the kingdomโs power structure.
๐ข Anti-capitalist themes
1The kingdom's structure and the Purging Trials are presented as exploitative, but not explicitly framed as a critique of capitalism or the profit motive. The narrative focuses more on the abuse of power than a broader economic critique.
๐ฑ Environmental issues
1There are mentions of a devastating plague, but this is presented as a historical event rather than a commentary on environmental degradation or climate change.

๐ Sex & Nudity
MildCharacters are shown kissing, and there are moments of physical closeness and tension between Paedyn and Prince Kai, including instances where they fall asleep curled up together, which suggests romantic interest without explicit depiction of sexual activity.
๐ฉธ Violence & Gore
ModerateThe work describes numerous violent encounters, including fist fights with broken noses, sword fights, and magical attacks involving explosions and projectiles. Specific instances include a character's painful death by torture, a character being branded, and descriptions of injuries like wounds being stitched. While magical healing sometimes mitigates these injuries, the descriptions are detailed and graphic enough to qualify as moderate.
๐คฌ Profanity
ModerateThe text mentions the use of words such as 'bitch,' 'ass,' 'hell,' 'damn,' 's--t,' and 'bastard.' While not constant or pervasive, these instances are present and contribute to a moderate level of profanity.
๐บ Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
ModerateCharacters, particularly Kitt and Kai, are shown drinking wine and champagne at balls and dinners. Kai is depicted as hungover, indicating significant alcohol consumption, and a drinking game is mentioned. This constitutes a notable depiction of alcohol consumption throughout the story.
๐ป Frightening & Intense Scenes
ModerateScenes depicting torture, banishment to die in the desert, and mentions of suicide capsules contribute to a tense and unsettling atmosphere. The Purging Trials themselves are described as brutal competitions with potentially fatal consequences. While not constant, these intense scenes are frequent and create a feeling of peril.
