๐ Gender-swapped character

๐ฅ Diverse casting

โ Racial messaging
1The film does not contain any themes or messages concerning systemic racism or racial grievances.
๐ Immigrant themes
1While the characters move from the city to the country, international immigration and immigrant experiences are not featured.

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ LGBT characters
2The supporting character Jamie is a gay man who has literally fused bodies with his husband as part of a cult ritual, serving as a thematic counterpoint to the straight main couple's fear of emotional and physical intimacy. Additionally, other same-sex fused couples, such as two women in a cavern, are briefly seen.
โ๏ธ Feminist themes
1While Millie is portrayed as the practical breadwinner and Tim is a dependent partner, the film functions as a generalized metaphor for the horrors of codependency rather than a critique of traditional gender roles or systemic patriarchy.
๐ข Anti-capitalist themes
1The profit motive and corporate exploitation are not explored or critiqued in this film.
๐ฑ Environmental issues
1Although the curse originates in a subterranean cave, the narrative does not present any environmentalist or climate change arguments.
